Unsustainable Development ppt
Unsustainable Development
- When current growth comes at the price of future generations, this is called unsustainable development. For instance, bad planning and environmental deterioration caused by resource extraction create waste and pollution, which harm ecosystems. In the long run, such methods are unsustainable.
- Waste management, transportation, urban sprawl, fresh air supply, clean water supply, and access to green spaces are all issues that many cities and commuter towns confront across the world. This might indicate that the town’s or city’s long term viability is in jeopardy. One example is commuting. Despite its tiny size, Dublin exhibits some of the signs of an unsustainable metropolis. Much of the infrastructure around Dublin has been under strain since the economy began to rise in the 1990s. This resulted in an unsustainable amount of commuting from satellite towns around Louth, Meath, Kildare, Wicklow, and even farther afield. Long distance automobile travel is considered unsustainable due to energy use, traffic congestion, and a decline in quality of life.
Consequences of Unsustainable Development
- Global Warming / Climate Change
- Pollution(Air, water, land)
- Loss of green space and natural contact
- Ecological Collapse is a term used to describe the state of the environment when it is
- Biodiversity is disappearing (Extinction and endangered species)
- Depletion of the ozone layer
- Energy scarcity
- Natural calamity (Flood, Landslide, Erosion)
- a scarcity of necessary resources for future generations
- Poverty
